The Room

A work by Gabriela Bondone premiered in Madrid in 2021 with performances at the Museo Reina Sofía and at the Teatro Pradillo.

The Room is a device designed for improvisation to happen, it is an invitation to the imagination, a practice of remembering. It is a superimposition of spatialities, a temporal-spatial journey.

The Room evokes spaces in which we have lived and which, in some way, are part of us. But, how does the bodily memory that we develop in the spaces we have inhabited unfold when we are outside of them?

While naming is impossible -since each word omits the only part of what it wants to say-, we hollow out the very code that we establish and let ourselves go towards abstract languages. Thus we give rise to what, we suspect, the words omit.

In this way, we aim to make this bodily memory present through the description of its forms, materials, objects, but also of what is outside the apparent. We want to give a specific place to these spaces that inhabit our memory, our body, so on stage we appeal to an exhaustive description of the spaces so that they appear. We exercise to remember them, reconstruct them, bring them to the present.
