Isabel Alvarellos
Bio
Isabel Alvarellos was born in Córdoba Capital, Argentina, in 1988. Her professional development unfolds at the intersection of literature and performing arts. Exploring the significance of care, gestures, and bodily disposition in the formation of identity, her work aims to shine a spotlight on spaces, both tangible and intangible, in order to view them from alternative perspectives. Narration serves as a means to construct new narratives that provide us with a closer experience of the stories, both personal and universal, that we’ve been told. She is a multidisciplinary artist.
Isabel Alvarellos holds a degree in Translation from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, completed the Actor Specialization Program at the Jolie Libois Theater Royal Córdoba, and earned a Master’s in Arts and Artistic Professions from the Universidad Carlos III and Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, Spain.
She authored her debut publication, “Cruces,” in which she also worked as an interpreter and director. Isabel Alvarellos has performed as a performer in Gabriela Bondone’s play “La habitación,” with performances at the Museo Reina Sofía and Teatro Pradillo. She has also participated as a performer and creator in the Babilonia collective, based at the Espacio de Creación Escénica El 5 de Velarde in Madrid.
Since 2008, she has collaborated with various groups in her city, participating in numerous festivals and tours, including Gloria Genet (as an actress), La Tropa Teatro (as a director), Las Hijas de Israel (as a performer), and as a guest at events like Jornadas Cage and the Contemporary Art Biennial. In the realm of cinema, she appeared in “Mnemosyne,” a film supported by the Fondo Nacional de las Artes and produced by the Fundación Holderlin. She received the Jury Award for Best Supporting Actress in the short film “2×1,” produced by Delta Films as part of the “48 Hour Film Project.” Her most recent audiovisual project was the lead role in the short film “Tóxica,” which premiered at Sala X in Madrid.
Isabel Alvarellos has undertaken three residencies abroad, including those with Odin Teatret in Denmark under the direction of Eugenio Barba and Julia Varley, with Teatro de los Andes in Bolivia under the direction of Alice Guimaraes and Gonzalo Callejas, and with the Taanteatro company in Brazil under the direction of Maura Baiocchi and Wolfgang Pannek. Her most recent artistic residency, focused on the creation of her upcoming work, took place at Monade Art Residency in Bergerac, France.
